FAQ

Help, I can't find/lost my order in my emails!

First thing to try is to log into your account with us and see if you can find it in your order history. You should be able to download files of all your past orders from your account. If you did not make an account when you ordered, you can always create one using the email address you used to purchase your patterns. If you've done this and there's still no orders in your account, it's likely you used a different email address or there was a typo in the email address when you purchased your patterns. Please contact me and I will do my best to find any missing orders.

Help, I can't log in, it says my info is incorrect!

Chances are you have this issue because you did not actually create an account with us. Purchasing something does not automatically create an account unless you selected that option at checkout, you must create one using the email address you used to purchase your patterns. If you try to create a new account and it says that the account already exists, you might need to reset your password.

Is this pattern beginner-friendly?

With any new skill, there's always a learning curve. I try to somewhat accurately rate my patterns for general skill levels, but the truth of the matter is that nobody can tell you what you can or can't do except yourself. That's why there are videos available for each pattern I release (check the listing descriptions or search them up on Youtube), because watching someone else make it is the best indicator I can think of to judge whether you think you can do those things yourself.

Do you have this particular design I'm looking for?

I'm a fairly new patternmaker, so I only have the designs that are currently in the shop right now, though new designs are being added quite often, so check back every now and again or subscribe to our newsletter to hear when the latest designs hit the shelves! Look at the add-ons closely because some designs are easy to miss or may not be where you expect. For example, there is a deer in the Wild Wonders add-on but not in the Jolly Jamboree add-on, even though you might consider sewing a reindeer bag for Christmas and not think to look at the other add-ons.

What's an SVG file?

SVG files are files used for cutting machines such as Cricuts, etc. I always provide complimentary SVG files with all my designs, but if you don't have one, that's no issue, as everything is also optimised for hand-cutting using the provided PDFs. Because I always cut my own bags by hand, I try to ensure that specialty equipment isn't mandatory for any of my designs. Please note: The PDFs are not meant to be compatible with your cutting machine software and the SVGs are not designed to be printed.

Where can I find the videos?

Some videos will be linked in the description of the main pattern listings, or to find all the ones available, please use the search function on YouTube.

Do I need an industrial machine to sew these?

The simple answer is no. The more complicated answer is some designs would benefit from having an industrial, but can be sewn on certain non-industrial machines. Not all sewing machines are made equal and there’s a great difference between a Janome HD and a Singer Start. I do not own an industrial machine. All my bag designs are created and tested using a Singer 201k, so anything you see on this site can be made on machines with the equivalent strength of a vintage domestic.

Can I sell my finished bags at markets, online, etc.?

The answer is yes! So long as you are not selling the pattern itself and just bags that you have made from the pattern, go for it. I'd be tickled pink if you tagged them with their relevant hashtag on social media and credited the pattern to Carbon Chic Patterns but this is not something I will police. Carbon Chic bags are super eyecatching and always make for great icebreakers, so have fun with it!

Do you sell gift cards?
